Counter Top vs Under Counter Top Alkaline Water Ionizers – Which Should You Choose?
Which Design of Alkaline Water Ionizers Should I Choose?
You might have already decided on buying an alkaline water ionizer. However, you just found out that not all of them are made with the same designs.
There are two main types of alkaline water ionizers, and they are both very different in design.
What Are the Two Types of Alkaline Water Ionizers?
The counter top and under the counter (or under sink) models are the two different designs of alkaline water filters.
Under the Counter Ionizers vs Counter Top Alkaline Water Ionizers
Which Should You Choose?
Counter Top Ionizers
Counter Top Alkaline water ionizers are designed to be placed next to your sink for you to connect directly to the faucet. It has a two-way valve where the end points are connected from the ionizer to the faucet on your sink. Once the valve is attached to each end, just turn the faucet on, and the tap water will be sent to the water ionizer, filtered, and thoroughly ionized. The counter top model is easy to setup and easy to use. It is small and doesn’t need much space to sit next to the sink.
One disadvantage of this ionizer model is that you will have to constantly remove the end valve that is connected to the faucet when you have to use the faucet for other purposes such as washing dishes or cleaning small appliances. It is, however, easy to screw and unscrew the valve to and from the faucet should you need it for other uses. It only takes roughly five minutes or less to do this.
One advantage of this design is that it is portable and can be easily installed anywhere. If you have to bring it somewhere with you, just unscrew the valve that is connected to the faucet, unplug your water ionizer, and you are ready to go.
Under the Counter Ionizers
Under the counter models are also called under sink alkaline water ionizers. These models are relatively larger than the counter top designs. The main advantage of the under the counter ionizer is that it doesn’t take up space on your counter top since it is designed to be installed under your sink. Only the ionizer faucet will be seen on your counter top, and the rest of the machine is hidden, therefore reducing the clutter in your kitchen.
However, it is somewhat difficult to install, and if you don’t have any experience in plumbing, you’ll have to hire a plumber. They will install it under the sink by tapping it directly into the water line. You will also have to attach the drainage system of the ionizer to your pipes, so the acidic water will automatically drain.
The under the counter model is also referred to as a permanent installation. You cannot simply detach it from where you have set it up so if you’re moving to a new house, you’ll need to get a plumber to detach it and set it up again in your new home. This is to ensure the water is being properly ionized and has the right alkaline levels.
If you prefer an alkaline water ionizer that is portable and easy to setup, you can go for the counter top alkaline ionizer. However, if you think that you won’t be needing to move your water ionizer to another place and you want a cleaner look on your counter top, an under the sink ionizer is the best choice for it. It is up to your personal preference on which to use, as both models can give you the alkalinity of water that your body needs.
